NOURISHING YOUR MIND FOR SUCCESS
A speech of JIM RHON
Written and edited by Joan Nakagwe
Introduction
Jim Rohn famously said, “Success is nothing more than a few simple discipline, practiced everyday.” One of the greatest of these disciplines is taking care of your mind.
Think about it—your mind is like a garden. If you plan seeds of wisdom, positivity, and growth, you will harvest success. But if you neglect it, weeds of doubt, fear and procrastination will take over.
Most people spend more time worrying about their stomachs than their minds. Yet as Jim Rohn often reminded us , “ Your Mind Feeds Your Future.” What you read, what you listen to, and the people you associate with all shape your thinking—and your thinking shapes your destiny.
In this post let’s explore how to nourish your mind for success daily so you can build the life you truly want. Because success isn’t a mystery—it’s a mindset.
1. Get serious.
Life is serious, we call it life or death. Jim Rohn said, Somebody asked me one time "if I had a good description of life?" .He continued and said YES , I think I have got a good description of life.
Life is a struggle to keep death at a respectable distance. Death seems to want move in prematurely. If you want to live a good long flourishing life, you got to push back, you can't just give in . Get serious like life, keep growing , instruct , learn more and develop your self.
2. Get smart.
Don't miss the opportunity to learn, take a good key phrase home, use it in your training. Don't be lazy in learning, don't be causal in learning, developed a whole new intensity that you are not going to miss the information, stories and details about learning.
3. Learn from your own personal experience.
If you had a bad week, just sit down and ponder that for a while, study it, see if you can pick some ideas from a poor week and then make the next week better.
Learning is the beginning of wealth, learning is the beginning of life change.
4. Make your own philosophy.
Philosophy is the major determining factor in how your life works out. You gotta to use your mind and process ideas to develop your own philosophy.
5. Keep going.
Develop the discipline of taking action which keeps going forward. The discipline is the miracle process that keeps going.
Do what you can, and if you do what you can, then life will give you some extraordinary things to do.
6. Get better.
There isn't any of us that can't get better, so turn on whole idea of personal development and personal growth.
For things to get better, you have to get better, start with few steps and keep growing. Don't ask for it to change out there, ask you change here. Don't ask for more favorable wind , we call that naive. Don't ask for better seed , better soil because this is the only planet you got, just ask that you can get wiser , stronger and better. Be able to take care of your own responsibilities, learn how to handle the winter (difficulties).
You can't change the season but you can change yourself.
7. Learn to nourish and protect your values .
Take care of your values, feed them, don't let them go hungry, don't let them go wanting in nourishment and care.
Defend yourself against enemies, there's going to be many enemies that are going to prevent you from success. As soon as you start there are going to be enemies to attack and you got to learn not only to nourish your values but also learn to battle with your enemies.
Whatever threatens you, am asking you to threaten it too. Take care of your responsibilities but don't take anything of anybody.
8. Harvest.
Take your harvest and all that comes your way with full responsibility. Don't complain, complaining could ruin all of your chances. Complaining sometimes starts with an infection, if you don't take care of it, it becomes a disease, do battle with it.
These are the additional ones.
Develop a skill and the ability to absorb everything
Develop the ability to reflect.
Develop the ability to respond.
Develop the ability to share
Conclusion:
As Jim Rohn said, “You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight.”
Success isn’t Just about talent or luck— it’s about consistency feeding your mind with the right ideas, discipline s and attitudes. Just like the body needs healthy food, the mind thrives on positive thoughts, valuable knowledge, and continuous learning.
So starting today, choose to nourish your mind deliberately. Read more, think deeper, surround yourself with wisdom, and never stop growing. Because when you change your mindset, you begin to change your life.
Remember, “Work harder on yourself than you do on your job,” and success will naturally follow.
